We can also achieve a liming affect where the bare timber is stained with a light pigment (e.g. white) before washing off leaving in the grain.

Wooden Floor Staining

Stains are used to alter the colour of wood. Unlike paint, stains work to enhance the wood grain rather than hide it. The appearance of the wood grain depends on the opacity of the stain and the number of applications. Like paint, stains are available in either oil-based (alkyd) or water-based (latex or acrylic) or they are also available in solvent based.

As well as traditional wood stains, we also use waterbased pigments stains (odor free), these allow us to achieve a wide range of colours from traditional wood colours to contemporary pigmenting e.g. white, red, blue or even pink! We also offer a range of oil based stains upon request.

Stain is applied by hand or roller before the sealer and you need a minimum of 8 hrs drying before finishing. If any filling or repairs to the wood are needed, this will take place before the staining.
